The Bougainvillea Hideaway

Enter a hollow of leaves and fuchsia flowers. Random thoughts litter the floor like a bed of crushed petals.

It may be autumn, but it certainly doesn't look like that around here right this minute. Soon enough, soon enough!

Every year around August I start lamenting the fact that the end of summer is near and winter is around the corner. I forget that I really do like early and mid- autumn, and that it's late fall that really gets to me.

I forget that I enjoy:

apple cider, the change in temperature that means it's time to rummage through the closet for long sleeved shirts and soft fuzzy socks, football season, pumpkin patches dotted with orange, the color of autumn trees juxtaposed against a brilliant blue sky, the aroma of fallen leaves as we hike through the mountains, being curled up under a few fleece blankets while watching movies on the couch, roasting marshmallows on an October night in our outdoor fireplace...

Ok. Ok. I admit that I enjoy the pleasures of early autumn. But don't think I'll change my mind about late November just yet.

Cheat picture or not, it's a good one: I love scenes like that.

Thanks, Scotty. Me too.

I'm still waiting for those brilliant fall colors to show up. It should be sometime within the next week.

Finally, some of the maples have started to turne orange this week. But, I have to admit, I'm like Margaret weeping for Goldengrove's unleaving.
