The Bougainvillea Hideaway

Enter a hollow of leaves and fuchsia flowers. Random thoughts litter the floor like a bed of crushed petals.

Re: Christmas in July

Christmas in July was a lot of fun this year. For some reason it was more elaborate than it has ever been before. We made green and red construction paper garland and strung it across the divide between the living room and the kitchen, we watched more Christmas movies and cartoons than the standard A Christmas Story, and the meal was fancier, too: Renaissance meat pie, a chicken-mushroom gravy, scalloped potatoes, corn, salad, and Christmas cookies with icing. YUM!!

And there was also an out-and-out water gun fight (in the house!?) that we've never had when celebrating this particular event.

Who knows if it truly was a feast fit for Santa, or if he would have even put us on the 'nice' list. All I can say is that it was fun, and that I was dang tired when it was all over.
