The Bougainvillea Hideaway

Enter a hollow of leaves and fuchsia flowers. Random thoughts litter the floor like a bed of crushed petals.

Peonies!

And lots of them (there were a lot less last year)! Some of them are finally starting to look much less like little scoops of strawberry ice cream. Once they begin to bloom, the ants leave for a lack of sweetness.

I have noticed that the peonies in our yard always bloom a week or two later than many of the peonies in town. I'm wondering if it happens that way every year because they were planted in a slightly shaded area. Perhaps it's the type of peony. Or both.

I'll take a few pictures soon and post them.
