Sakura Festival - Petal by Petal
This is a picture of the entrance near the Sakura Stage. Musicians were preparing and warming up to play a few songs originating from Okinawa. As they were preparing and we were waiting, Japanese announcers engaged the crowd with a game. Who could sing a note for the longest duration? A swimmer won! I was not surprised. Our announcers told us about the songs that were going to be performed. Unfortunately, the sound was pretty loud and we had to leave. They've been playing at the festival for a number of years so we might hear them next year.
This ceramic origami-style crane is an incense holder. We purchased a blue one near the end of our time spent at the festival. There were many tents dedicated to Japanese items. One of my favorite vendors was selling hanging ornaments. Ronin and I found ourselves looking at the same ones. This made me happy because whichever ornament I didn't choose, he probably would. And he did. The man who sold us the ornaments was friendly and we talked to him for a minute or two.
