The Bougainvillea Hideaway

Enter a hollow of leaves and fuchsia flowers. Random thoughts litter the floor like a bed of crushed petals.

Design

The faces I'd find
in the tiles, fence, shower curtain

became comfortable

soft faded jeans with holes
in the knees

and Whimsy
flower-faced and delicate

became comforting

my daughter asleep with
a baby blue blanket
that once swaddled me

or in need of comfort

a stem for an eye
that seemed to wink
a mouth not yet smiling.

I've messed around a bit with this poem and can't seem to get it right. I want to use "the" when talking about the baby blanket because of it's importance, but "those" on the next line disrupts the sound. Too much "th". I'm having trouble with the tenses in the last strophe.

ACK!!!
