Muted
I watch her walk
from the hallway to her bedroom
barely able to close the door
then the muffled sounds of crying begin.
I want to pull her to me
bring laughter with stories
carefree and pointless
but I can't.
I look outside my window
watch beads form patterns
then disappear:
my own face,
only resolved.
