Dream Sequence (part one - The Hummingbird)

Was that a tap on the window?
Was it part of my dream?

I stretch, shake my head left,
now right, pick bits of haze-fluff
that seal up each eye.

tap-tap-tap

(The sound sets sleepy foot to floor.)

A slender, pencil point beak
powered by whir-hungry wings
clicks at my kitchen window
in woodpecker time:
