The Bougainvillea Hideaway

Enter a hollow of leaves and fuchsia flowers. Random thoughts litter the floor like a bed of crushed petals.

Grackles. (Or: Apparent.)

I watched the grackles at the feeder again today. It's likely that the parent is now teaching the young grackle to feed and fend for itself.

The young grackle was standing in the feeder this morning. It made some calling sounds and the parent flew back to it again then decided to fly off a couple of minutes later upon making sure it was OK. Sure enough, the young one opened its mouth and began calling, so the parent flew away. A few minutes later the young grackle had flown away as well.
