If we could pull each other up from what seems to be the quicksand somehow... whereby our best intentions of doing so were perfect for all of us being pulled up.
Sometimes we think we are doing just that, pulling others out of the quicksand (and in very generic/vague terms perhaps we are) but it might just be that we are giving each other the best advice for the one who is giving out the advice (our selves).
At the same time, even if our advice isn't perfect for every person, parts of it might be, and some of our advice that is translated by the one who has been advised, might be relevant for them at that time, and they might make use of it in a way that sincerely helps them (though there is always the chance that the well-meant advice is misunderstood and taken badly).
Ack, I think the "no man is an island" thing from high school had more of an impact on me than I was previously aware.
